Connect with NLC: Volume 3

Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 05:30 PM
Buenos Aires Cafe in Austin, TX

Hello!

The 2017 Cohort of the New Leaders Council (NLC) of Austin cordially invites you to a recruiting happy hour at Buenos Aires Cafe, 1201 East 6th St on Tuesday, September 26 @ 5:30-7:30p. Snacks will be provided.

We have recognized you and other progressive leaders in the Austin area as potential candidates to join the 2018 class of NLC Austin. The deadline for applications is Sunday, October 1.

Please share our event (via Facebook) with others!

What is the New Leaders Council?

New Leaders Council is the leading training program for progressive Millennials. The program equips our leaders with the skills to run for office, manage campaigns, create start ups and networks of thought leaders.  Our leaders take their activism back into their communities and workplaces to impact progressive change.

NLC has 48 chapters across the country in red and blue states with nearly 5,000 alumni. NLC is a true reflection of the Millennial generation with 57% of our NLC community as non-white and 53% women.  NLC is one of the few organizations focused on building a new governing coalition.

What's the time commitment?

The NLC Institute takes place on weekends, one weekend per month for six months.  NLC Fellows learn from our faculty - experts in fundraising, new media, communication strategy, campaign management, policy, and more.

In addition, fellows spend time developing a capstone project and implementing the skills they learn in the Institute to raise funds for the next year's cohort.

What's this going to cost me?

Although the application fee is $30, the Institute itself is free to accepted applicants. Waivers for the application fee may also be requested. One of the best parts of NLC is that the prior class pays for the next class through individual fundraising and an awards ceremony for local progressive champions at the end of the class year. It is important to NLC that cost is never a prohibitive factor in attracting strong, intelligent, diverse, and progressive leaders.

We hope you will join us at our recruiting event at Buenos Aires Cafe, 1201 East 6th St on Tuesday, September 26 @ 5:30-7:30p.

We look forward to seeing you!
